No Refund Policy: Your right to know

  1. Sometimes, we pay for goods and services but we get home only to regret spending so much or even at all on what we thought was a good buy.
  2. This is allowed, but can you return and ask for a refund? This depends on the refund policy of the merchant!
  3. A refund policy is a document that outlines the rules for getting refunds for purchased goods and services.
  4.  A refund policy often details the Conditions and requirements for refunds, types of refunds given, the refund timeframe, and the return process.
  5. You explain “refund policy” by stating which items will not be refunded, clearly setting out any items which can be returned and those which cannot be returned.
  6. In Nigeria, a customer shall have the right to return any advance booking, reservations order for any goods or services.
  7. The law allows a supplier or service provider to charge a reasonable fee for cancellation of orders or reservations.
  8. A no refund policy is unlawful, illegal, null, and void in light of the provisions of Sections 120, 104, 129 (1) (a) and (b) (iii) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018.
  9. Any provider who refuses to refund money is liable in law, provided you comply with stated conditions for cancellation and refund.
